Equality & Diversity Policy
AURA Care – Norfolk, United Kingdom
Effective Date: September 2025
At AURA Care, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our care delivery, workplace practices, and community engagement. We believe that every individual—whether a service user, staff member, or partner—should be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances.
This policy is underpinned by the Equality Act 2010, which legally protects individuals from discrimination based on the nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. As a responsible care provider serving diverse communities across Norfolk, including Norwich, Great Yarmouth, and surrounding areas, we take proactive steps to uphold these rights in both our care practices and employment procedures.
We are committed to ensuring that no individual receiving care is treated less favourably because of who they are or what they believe. Our care services are person-centred and culturally sensitive, recognising and valuing the unique life experiences, preferences, and needs of each client. We will always adapt our communication, support plans, and service delivery to be inclusive and accessible, taking into account cultural, religious, linguistic, and mobility-related needs.
Within our organisation, we strive to foster a positive and inclusive working environment where all employees feel valued and supported. Recruitment, training, development, and promotion opportunities are based solely on merit and individual capability. Any form of bullying, harassment, victimisation, or discrimination will not be tolerated and will be dealt with through our disciplinary procedures.
To ensure we meet these commitments, we regularly review our policies, procedures, and training programmes. All staff receive equality and diversity training as part of their induction and ongoing professional development. We also encourage open communication, inviting feedback from staff and service users to continuously improve our inclusivity and cultural awareness.
AURA Care is proud to reflect the communities we serve. We believe that embracing equality and diversity is not only a legal duty but a vital part of delivering compassionate, high-quality care. We are stronger, more understanding, and more effective when we listen to and learn from one another.
This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to any changes in legislation or organisational practice.
